The Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Chinyere Esther Onyekesi, has condemned a reported case of child abu$e involving a young girl in Onitsha, describing the incident as cruel, inhumane, unacceptable, and a serious vi0lation of a child’s rights and dignity.
According to reports, the incident involved Aniagu Precious, an indigene of Enugu State residing in Onitsha, who allegedly subjected a young girl under her care to severe physical abu$e, neglect, and st@rvation.
The victim reportedly lost a tooth as a result of the a$$ault and later collapsed at school due to injuries allegedly sustained from the abu$e, as well as prolonged deprivation of adequate food and care.
Reacting to the development, Mrs. Onyekesi expressed shock and concern over the incident, stating that such actions undermine the values of compassion, responsibility, and respect for human dignity that society should uphold.
She reaffirmed the state’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of children and ensuring that those responsible for abu$e are held accountable.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing, while relevant authorities continue to take steps aimed at securing justice for the victim.
