The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, over the k!lling of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and another victim, Yakubu Isa.

The two men were k!lled on July 1, 2026, while returning from a security meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini Local Government Area.

In a statement issued on Saturday, July 11, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said the latest arrests were made following sustained intelligence gathering, thorough investigations, and coordinated tactical operations.

Those arrested have been identified as Chief Morgan Ejaga (43), Chief Moses Anteyi (45), Chief John Ogli (58), Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49), Sylvester Ajonye (80), Aba Alexander Uloko (59), and Fidelis Iduma (45).

The latest development comes after 10 other suspects had earlier been taken into custody in connection with the case, bringing the total number of arrests to 17.

Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their dedication and professionalism. He also assured residents that investigations are still ongoing and that anyone found to have participated in the k!llings would be made to face the law.

The Police Command further appealed to members of the public to remain calm and continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in concluding the investigation.
