A 35-year-old hero mum ‘saved her son when ex stormed home with a grenade’ before d3adly explosion

Jo Shaw is being hailed as a hero after reportedly saving her young son moments before a d3adly grenade explosion at her home in Bristol.

The blast occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday on Sterncourt Road and was allegedly triggered by her former partner, Ryan Kelly, during a domestic dispute.

According to reports, Shaw appeared to sense danger and instructed her son to go outside and play on a trampoline shortly before the explosion. Witnesses said they heard her shouting “go away, go away” moments before a powerful blast shook nearby homes.

The child was rescued from the garden just before the detonation. Armed police were reportedly already on their way to the property after receiving emergency calls about a domestic incident.

Both Shaw and Kelly d!ed in the explosion, while three other relatives sustained minor injuries and were later discharged from hospital. Authorities have since classified Shaw’s d3ath as h0micide and confirmed they are not searching for additional suspects.

Avon and Somerset Police also reportedly referred itself to the police watchdog because of previous domestic incident reports involving the pair.

Kelly was previously convicted in 2015 for involvement in a cocaine supply conspiracy linked to a gang that allegedly attempted to establish a crystal meth laboratory.

Friends and neighbours described Shaw as a caring mother and hardworking woman who had recently moved into her parents’ home to escape the relationship and rebuild her life.
