A 23-year-old woman has tragically d!ed after a man reportedly fell from a high-rise apartment building and landed on top of her while she was walking along a pavement in Nagoya, Japan.

According to reports, the woman was walking with a friend in Nagoya’s busy Sakae district at about 1 a.m. on July 19 when the 29-year-old man fell from a 12-storey apartment building and struck her.

Emergency responders rushed both victims to the hospital after receiving reports that a man had “fallen and hit a woman.”

The woman later d!ed from haemorrhagic shock, while the man survived the fall but remains unconscious and in critical condition. The woman’s friend was not injured.

Police have not yet determined whether the man fell accidentally or intentionally and have not confirmed the exact floor from which he fell.

Investigators also disclosed that the man was not a resident of the apartment building, with part of the ongoing investigation focusing on why he was at the property.

The incident occurred in Sakae, one of Nagoya’s busiest commercial districts, known for its shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.

Authorities say investigations are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
