Tosin, a 28-year-old widow, has called for assistance after accusing her late husband’s family of assaulting her and trying to seize his belongings just a few days after his death.

Activist Harrison Gwamnishu posted on social media that Tosin’s husband passed away on July 20, 2026, following a battle with illness.

He claimed that her father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, and his wife moved into the family’s Ikorodu, Lagos, house a few days after the funeral and gave her and her two young sons instructions to confine their possessions to one room.

He added that preparations were in place to sell his car and that some of the deceased’s properties had already been divided.

A heated altercation between Tosin and her father-in-law was also filmed in a video that went viral. “You all are stressing me!” was the distressed widow’s repeated Yoruba cry in the video. I am being oppressed by you all!

She claimed, fighting back tears as she spoke in English, “They were not supposed to do anything to me! They began to b+ate me. They are not even allowed to touch me or do anything to me. I’m exhausted, hungry, and weak. That’s how it all happened: he threw me to the ground, began b+ating me, and dug my phone. What happens if I hit my head on the ground?

Gwamnishu also posted a video in which the widow’s father-in-law, who owns another home, was seen locking her outside the property and padlocking the gate. He added that after making the situation public, Tosin started getting threats.

“No widow should have to fight for dignity, shelter, and justice just days after losing her husband,” he said, urging the Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) to step in.
