Months after promising her younger brother ₦50,000 for each A1 he scored, a Nigerian woman caused a stir when she posted his WAEC results online.

The Port Harcourt-based merchant, identified as @aliana_wears on TikTok, made the pledge before her brother appeared for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

She had promised to give him ₦50,000 for each A1 he earned, but his outcome meant she would have to pay a lot more than she had anticipated.

The boy checked his grades and texted his sister a screenshot on WhatsApp as soon as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) revealed the 2026 WASSCE results on August 5.

He received seven A1s and two B2s in nine subjects, demonstrating his exceptional performance.

He received the following grades: A1 in geography, A1 in civic education, A1 in English language, A1 in general mathematics, A1 in biology, A1 in chemistry, B2 in physics, B2 in livestock farming, and A1 in technical drawing.

Based on his sister’s promise, he received a reward of ₦350,000 with seven A1s.

After her brother reminded her of the money she had promised, the woman took to TikTok to express her feelings.

She mockingly bemoaned the quantity of A1s her brother received while displaying the WAEC result and their WhatsApp exchange in the video.

“Why will you give him 6 A?” she said while tagging WAEC’s purported TikTok account.

Viewers who examined the outcome, however, noted that the student really recorded seven A1s, indicating that the incentive was considerably greater than she had first proposed.

Since then, the video has gone viral, and many Nigerians have joked about his sister’s ₦350,000 commitment while applauding the pupil for his outstanding accomplishment.
