A six-month-old baby was rescued alive by operatives of the Oyo State Fire Service after a fire gutted part of a residential building in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State on Saturday night, July 11.

Reports indicate that the fire was triggered by a gas leak, which engulfed the ground floor of the private one-storey building.

Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Reform, Morrof Akinwande, said the agency received a distress call from Mr. Abiodun Mayowa, who alerted firefighters to the emergency.

“At exactly 20:38 hrs on Saturday, July 11, 2026, our office received a distress call through a telephone call from Mr Abiodun Mayowa reporting a house on fire at Olomi Compound in Ogbomoso.
