Zekeri Idris, a public pundit, has emphasised the necessity for Nigerians to hold elected officials accountable, contending that they are public servants rather than the people’s employers.
During an appearance on News Central’s advocacy show “A Place At The Table,” Idris stated that President Bola Tinubu should be seen as an employee who is answerable to Nigerians.
Additionally, he condemned ethnic politics, cautioning that despite widespread suffering, tribal prejudices frequently prevent Nigerians from holding politicians accountable.
He maintains that poverty affects people of all ethnicities and that the advancement of Africa depends on raising the calibre of leadership and rejecting the idea of political “messiahs.”

“Tinubu works for me; he works for you, and you must speak to him like an employee. He is not your employer.
We can debate all we want but until we stand up and get leadership right, and we’re not looking for a Messiah. Let us completely forget those who are using a problem to solve a problem. In Nigeria it is tr!balism. They say things like oh they want to remove our person from power and even when you are suffering, you think that person is your person. Poverty does not know ethnicity…”
