A Nigerian man identified as Simon Peter has been left devastated following the tragic d3ath of his young son, Lawrence, who reportedly drowned in stagnant water while playing with friends.
According to reports, the incident occurred after some of the child’s friends allegedly convinced him to follow them to the location where the tragedy happened.
Peter claimed the children watched as Lawrence drowned but failed to raise an alarm or seek help in time to save him.
The heartbreaking incident has sparked sympathy online, with many calling for increased child supervision and water safety awareness to help prevent similar tragedies.
“My dear son, I am sorry for not having the powers to appear and save you when ever you are in trouble, that is why I couldn’t save you when you were dr0wning in that stagnant water, and your friends who persuaded you into following them there all left you without shouting for help until you dr0wned to d3ath,” he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
“I was searching for you to come home and eat, but only for me to receive a call that you drowned to d3ath in a small stagnant water, rushing there, I realized that life has truly gone out of you. Son, I will forever miss you, GOODNIGHT DEAR.”
