You Moved Your Families to UK Yet Shout ‘City Boy’ — Lawyer Slams Obi Cubana, Chief Priest

According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, a Nigerian lawyer, Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, has sparked debate online after accusing popular nightlife mogul Obi Cubana of relocating his family to the United Kingdom, arguing that the move reflects a lack of confidence in Nigeria’s future while still benefiting from business operations within the country.

Iwuchukwu made the remarks in a post shared on his Facebook page on Thursday, where he also mentioned socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest in similar terms. His comments have since generated discussions across social media platforms, especially in light of the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Both Obi Cubana and Cubana Chief Priest recently aligned themselves with supporters of President Bola Tinubu by associating with the “City Boy Movement,” a political campaign group advocating Tinubu’s re-election bid. Their public endorsement has attracted both support and criticism, with some Nigerians questioning the role of celebrities and business figures in political campaigns.

In his online statement, Iwuchukwu alleged that Obi Cubana had moved his immediate family abroad several years ago, claiming the decision was based on a belief that living conditions and prospects outside Nigeria were more favourable. According to the lawyer, the businessman continues to generate income from enterprises operating in Nigeria while his family resides overseas. “You moved your families to UK yet shout ‘City Boy’ he said.

He further argued that this situation contradicts the enthusiastic promotion of a political slogan linked to the current administration. Iwuchukwu claimed that influential elites encouraging public support for the government often make personal choices that shield their own families from challenges faced by ordinary citizens in Nigeria.
