Media personality Tomama, popularly known as Dat Warri Girl, has criticised people who accuse women of pr0$titution whenever they are unable to determine the source of their wealth.
Tomama argued that women engage in various legitimate and illegitimate activities to make money, yet society often reduces the financial success of wealthy women to pr0$titution.
She pointed out that women are involved in other serious crimes, including k!dnapping, money laundering, robbery and drug trafficking, questioning why pr0$titution is often the first accusation levelled against women whose sources of income are unknown.
‘You’ll just accuse her of pr0$titution’
According to Tomama, some people are quick to assume that a woman is involved in pr0$titution simply because they cannot explain how she makes her money.
She said:
“When some of you can’t figure out a woman’s source of income, you’ll just accuse her of pr0$titution.”
She added:
“Women are committing better crimes and you people are reducing them to just pr0$titution.”
The media personality further argued that the tendency to make such accusations reflects the way society perceives and undervalues women.
According to her, society does not “rate” women highly enough, which she believes contributes to the ease with which wealthy or financially successful women are subjected to pr0$titution allegations.
Comments come amid Mummy Wa’s claim
Tomama’s comments come shortly after content creator Kemi Ikuseedun, popularly known as Mummy Wa, claimed during a podcast appearance that many women in the entertainment industry are involved in pr0$titution.
The claim has sparked discussions online about women in entertainment, wealth, sexuality and the assumptions people make about how financially successful women earn their money.
Tomama’s response has added another perspective to the debate, with social media users weighing in on whether women are unfairly subjected to prostitution allegations when their sources of income are not immediately known.
