A woman in Michigan is set to appear in court after being accused of k!lling her pregnant daughter and allegedly cutting open her body to remove the unborn baby.
According to reports, 40-year-old Cortney Bartholomew is scheduled to appear in court on May 5, 2026, to determine whether she is mentally fit to stand trial, with a preliminary hearing also fixed for May 22.
Cortney and her husband, 47-year-old Brady Bartholomew, are facing multiple charges, including first-degree mu3der, felony mu3der, t0rture, conspiracy to commit t0rture, unlawful imprisonment, and a$$ault on a pregnant woman causing miscarriage or stillbirth.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Rebecca Park, was reportedly found d3ad on November 25, several miles away from Cortney’s home. Rebecca was pregnant and had reportedly been due to give birth on November 22.
Investigators alleged that Rebecca was last seen on November 3 after Cortney lured her to the house with promises of receiving $18,000 from a family inheritance.
According to court documents cited in reports, Cortney allegedly told investigators that Brady st@bbed Rebecca inside a vehicle while holding a knife to her throat. She also allegedly claimed that the unborn child was removed from Rebecca’s womb while she was still alive.
Authorities said the infant later d!ed, while Rebecca’s body was allegedly dumped on an embankment.
Investigators further claimed that the couple gave conflicting accounts about the motive behind the att@ck. Brady reportedly accused Cortney of planning to steal the baby because she wanted a child but could not adopt due to his status on the s3x offender registry. Cortney, on the other hand, allegedly claimed Brady wanted revenge connected to a parole violation report involving Rebecca’s boyfriend.
Police also alleged that after Rebecca’s d3ath, Cortney falsely told people she had recently given birth but lost the baby shortly afterward.
