Why I Don’t Want Any of My Children to Make Music – Davido

According to Daily Post on Friday, July 31, 2026, Afrobeats sensation Davido has said he does not want any of his children to follow in his footsteps by pursuing a career in music, despite his own remarkable success in the industry.

The Nigerian singer shared his thoughts during a recent interview on The Vibe podcast, where he spoke openly about the realities of being one of Africa’s biggest music stars.

Davido noted that although music has brought him fame, wealth, and global recognition, it has also exposed him to immense pressure and personal challenges that many people do not see.

The father of six explained that those experiences have convinced him that he would rather his children choose careers outside the entertainment industry.

He revealed that his second daughter, Hailey Veronica Adeleke, already has a keen interest in music. He described her as lively, confident, and gifted with a strong singing voice, adding that she shares many of his personality traits.

Even so, Davido said he hopes she eventually decides on a different profession because he understands the sacrifices, constant public attention, and expectations that come with a career in music.

He emphasized that his opinion has nothing to do with doubting his children’s talent. Rather, it is based on his own journey in the entertainment industry and his desire to protect them from the hardships he experienced.

Speaking on the podcast, Davido said, “I don’t want any of my children to pursue music. My second daughter, Hailey, is already leaning towards music. She is the life of the party, behaves just like me, and has a good voice. But I know what I went through.”
