Nigerian singer and songwriter Chidozie Godsfavour Ugochinyere, popularly known as Fave, has revealed how her hit collaboration Kante with Davido came about, saying Davido personally reached out and told her he wanted to come into her world.
Speaking on Afropolitan Podcast, Fave said she had already written and recorded the first verse and chorus of Kante, and had sent it to two or three other artists who were not feeling it before Davido contacted her.
She said Davido asked her to send him a couple of songs so he could pick the one he connected with, and it was Kante that he chose. Fave said two-time Grammy-nominated star recorded his verse on her already recorded song, and that was how the collaboration happened. She added that she has never chased collaborations in her career.
In Fave’s words: “When Davido hit me up he was like he wants to come into my world because those were his words, and he wants me to send him a couple of songs that I have so he could see which one he’s really feeling. I sent him three or four songs and it was Kante that he picked out. He did his verse on my already recorded song and that was how that collab happened.”
