“We are fighting to defend our people, not to kill them” – Nnamdi Kanu calls for peace in South-East after losing bail application

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), issued an appeal for peace in the South-East of the nation following the denial of his bail request by a federal high court judge.

It was previously reported that on Tuesday, June 28, Justice Binta Nyako of the federal high court in Abuja dismissed the motion, citing it as an abuse of the legal system as it had already been rejected.

Speaking after the court’s ruling, Kanu pleaded with Southeasters to “stay calm” and maintain peace in the region.

He said;

 “It is what we expect. But I want our people to be very calm. I want Biafranland to be calm, calm, and very peaceful. We are fighting to defend our people, not to kill them.

“We are fighting to defend them, that’s why I’m here. And we will continue to do so until we get victory.”
