Vote for Tinubu in 2027, don’t waste your votes – Deputy Speaker tells Igbos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appeal for harmony and reconciliation within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been reiterated by Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He urged party officials to continue efforts at reconciliation around the nation, particularly during the holiday season, and to enhance contact with stakeholders.

During courtesy visits to the senatorial zones of Abia North, Central, and South on Monday, Hon. Kalu made the plea to strengthen party unity and structures.

He went to see Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former chief whip of the Senate and governor of Abia State, in Abia North.

He met Senator John Bob Nwannunu at Abia Central and Sir Mac Wabara, an APC leader and former managing director of Hallmark Bank, in Abia South.

Party unity, internal consolidation, and ongoing cooperation for political stability and party expansion were the main topics of discussion at every meeting.

The President’s message, according to the Deputy Speaker, was very clear: in order to build a stronger party and country, leaders must reach out, put aside differences, and collaborate.

He defined the season as a time for introspection, peacemaking, and a fresh dedication to inclusive governance.

Speaking on national politics, Hon. Kalu advised the Igbo to make smart and practical political choices.

Strong coalitions provide the most direct route to an Igbo presidency, he emphasised, saying that votes should be “invested, not wasted.”

He said that helping the South West now will foster inclusivity, trust, and political reciprocity.

Hon. Kalu reiterated his commitment to the South East’s growth within Nigeria’s political framework, party unity, and President Tinubu’s agenda.

He reassured interested parties of his dedication to participatory governance and efficient representation.

Additionally, the congressman invited candid assessment of his work by presenting his two-year scorecard to party leaders and senior statesmen.

“I believe leadership must be subjected to scrutiny. I presented my two-year scorecard and asked them to honestly assess what I have done so far, so I can do better,” he said.

Hon. Kalu urged party stakeholders to increase grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He said that the era of haggling for only 25% of the vote in Abia State has ended.

He believes the APC now has the organisation, momentum, and political resources to win the state entirely.

He expressed confidence that the Abia APC is well positioned to win handsomely for President Tinubu in subsequent elections.

The Deputy Speaker applauded the President’s leadership and perseverance in enacting challenging initiatives.

“And in this I want us to remember that this President has shown leadership. The policies were tough but the President was steadfast,” he said.

He further stated that Nigerians were starting to benefit from those measures, calling Tinubu as daring and steadfast.

Hon. Kalu urged Igbo leaders to move beyond sentiment and embrace political realism.

“Igbo’s, let us invest our votes. Igbo’s, let us not waste our votes,” he said.

He emphasised that political influence is based on numbers, not feelings, and urged voters to choose candidates for whom their votes will count.

He claimed President Tinubu has demonstrated a willingness to collaborate with the Igbo, citing inclusive project allocation and political participation.

“He’s a listening President, I beg of you let us stand by him, and his current policies,” he added.

Hon. Kalu’s performance at the National Assembly was praised by the older statesmen, who described his contributions as significant and people-oriented.

They commended him for being transparent while delivering his scorecard, pointing out that it demonstrated accountability, humility, and openness.

In advance of the 2027 elections, the leaders pledged to maintain support and to enhance party structures and grassroots mobilisation.
