“Vaping is just not worth it” — Selena Gomez shares regret over nicotine habit

American singer and actress Selena Gomez has warned fans against nicotine vaping after revealing that the habit has changed her voice and that quitting has been difficult.

The 34-year-old made the disclosure in a video shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, October 18, 2026, where she opened up about her experience with nicotine and urged people to avoid taking up the habit.

Gomez admitted that she had vaped nicotine extensively and expressed concern about the lasting changes to her voice.

The singer also acknowledged that some listeners might no longer enjoy her voice, saying she would understand if they decided to stop listening to her music.

Gomez said, “Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it, or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it.”

She further explained that she is determined to stop vaping, although she admitted that overcoming nicotine dependence will not be easy.

The revelation comes after questions were raised about changes to her voice during an Instagram Live session in December, when she explained that her throat sometimes swells internally.

Gomez’s disclosure has drawn attention to the challenges of nicotine dependence and the impact she believes vaping has had on her voice.

The singer has previously been open about several health challenges, including lupus, a kidney transplant in 2017, and her bipolar disorder diagnosis.

Her latest comments also serve as a personal warning to fans who may be considering vaping or are struggling to quit nicotine.
