According to a report by Al-Jazeera on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in light of recent disputes between Iran and Israel, the Iranian Defence Ministry has asserted that the United States’ worldwide power has diminished. It has described this development as a change in the international order.
The continuing confrontation, which the Iranian defence ministry spokesman called a “war on Iran,” has led to what he called a “fundamental realignment of global power structures,” according to him. The official stated that the supremacy of the United States on a global scale can no longer be maintained.
“The American global hegemony has collapsed,” stated Reza Talaei-Nik, according to Iran’s semi-official Mehr News Agency. Furthermore, he emphasised that the Iranian military is always ready to respond forcefully to any aggressive move or threat.
Events in the region, according to Talaei-Nik, point to a larger shift away from American unilateralism. According to him, the world is shifting toward a multipolar or multilateral structure where no one country controls world events.
He stated, “American unilateralism is reaching its end,” implying that the military position of Iran and resistance movements in the region show a change in the geopolitical trend.
Also, he brought up the “brave resistance and defence of the Iranian nation,” saying that it is helping to bring about a new world equilibrium. The world is shifting toward a global system, which Iran perceives as a replacement for decades of US-led rule, according to his words.
Additional mention of a “Ramadan War” on February 28, 2026, which Iranian officials connected to wider regional tensions and military events, was also included in the statement. Nevertheless, there was no readily available independent confirmation or generally acknowledged worldwide reference to this kind of incident.
