The medical community is in shock and mourning over the tragic death of Dr. Tyoor Cedric Kondom, a medical graduate of Benue State University who reportedly died just days before being inducted into the profession.

The Benue Medical and Dental Students’ Association (BEMSA-National) confirmed his death in a memorial, characterising him as a devoted and hard-working graduate whose life was cut short at a critical point in his career.

“With deep sadness and a profound sense of loss, we join family, friends, and colleagues in mourning the passing of our beloved brother and colleague, Dr. Kondom Cedric, who passed away on Thursday, 18th June 2026,” the group said.

According to the tribute, Cedric had completed the tough demands of medical school and was only a few days away from being properly initiated as a doctor when he died.

The association characterised him as an extraordinary young professional whose medical school experience was marked by determination, resilience, and dedication to the practice of medicine.

Friends and coworkers also turned to social media to mourn the deceased, expressing their shock that he died so close to reaching a significant milestone.

Cedric was “only ten days away from his induction when death came unexpectedly,” according to one mourner. He had spent ten years studying medicine at Benue State University and serving at General Hospital Gboko.

Cedric’s death, according to BEMSA, is a significant loss not only to the association but also to the larger medical community, as he impacted many people’s lives via his friendship, dedication, and service.
While several of his colleagues thought that he died of bone marrow failure, Tyoor’s cause of death has yet to be publicly acknowledged.
