Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Igor Tudor missed his post-match press conference after the club’s 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest due to the death of a family member.
According to SunSport, the Croatian learned of the loss shortly after the final whistle, and assistant coach Bruno Saltor spoke to the media on his behalf.
Saltor confirmed Tudor’s absence was due to personal circumstances, stating: “Personal matters, family matters and I am stepping in as it is not right time for him to speak.”
He added: “Igor is not here for family issues, so thought the best way to do is him not taking the press today. We just respect it.”
Saltor also discussed Tottenham’s precarious condition following the defeat, which puts them just above the relegation zone with seven games left.
“Every mistake right now is going against us, every detail is going against us and it affects the players as well,” he said.
“You can see how much they are fighting. We are in a difficult situation, everyone knows.”
Despite a solid first half performance, Tottenham went behind shortly before halftime when Igor Jesus scored for Forest. The visitors enhanced their lead through Morgan Gibbs-White, and Taiwo Awoniyi secured the victory late on.
Saltor acknowledged the team’s intent to respond, but confessed the plan failed to produce results.
“It didn’t work as planned but it was our intention. It hurts us, it is painful, really painful,” he said.
Tottenham have battled for consistency in recent weeks, putting pressure on Tudor as the club seeks to avoid relegation.
