Dele Momodu has claimed that President Bola Tinubu assumed Nigeria would be governed like Lagos State, but later discovered that leading the country was different, which he linked to what he described as confusion under the president’s administration.
Momodu made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television, where he criticised Tinubu’s approach to governance and explained why he believes the president’s experience in Lagos did not translate easily to the national level.
Momodu said, “Perhaps what has happened to President Tinubu is the fact that when he got on the presidency, he assumed that Nigeria was Lagos, and he soon discovered that Nigeria is different from Lagos, and that is why he’s had total commotion and confusion.”
He also alleged that Tinubu’s associates were “throwing money around” and trying to silence critics while seeking to persuade governors to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Momodu, these actions were intended to create the impression that nobody could challenge the ruling party. He presented them as part of the political confusion he believes has characterised Tinubu’s administration.
His central argument was that governing Nigeria involves challenges different from those encountered while leading Lagos State.
