Timi Dakolo Warns Against Enduring Abuse in the Name of Love

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has cautioned people in abu$ive relationships against mistaking suffering and endurance for proof of love.

The singer, in a post on X, stressed that victims of abu$e should not feel responsible for fixing people who exhibit destructive behaviour.

Dakolo noted that the ability to tolerate abu$e should not be confused with patience, adding that destructive tendencies should not simply be dismissed as character flaws.

He wrote: “Dear anybody, suffering is not a proof of love. The amount of abu$e you can take is not what patience is all about. It is not your job to fix broken people. Destructive tendencies is not character flaws. Even trained therapist gives up sometimes.”

His message highlights the importance of recognising abusive behaviour and understanding that love does not require anyone to endure harm to prove their commitment to a relationship.

The singer’s warning serves as a reminder that patience should not come at the expense of personal safety, dignity and emotional well-being.
