Three people, including the suspected gunm@n, are d£ad after a sh00ting near an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, on Saturday, August 1.
The tragic incident unfolded at about 2 p.m. local time, beginning near the restaurant before spilling into the parking lot and surrounding area.
According to Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks, the suspected sh00ter, who was armed with an AR-style rifle, was among those who d!ed. Authorities have not yet identified the suspect or determined a motive for the att@ck.
Reports indicate that at least five other people were injured, although officials said the number of casualties could increase as investigations continue.
A viral video recorded from inside a nearby vehicle appears to show a man wearing a black T-shirt and blue trousers standing between two parked Teslas before aiming what appeared to be a firearm at the driver’s-side window of a blue vehicle.
Two sh0ts were heard in quick succession, with visible muzzle flashes accompanying each discharge. The man then lowered the weapon, walked away briefly, and broke into a run across the parking lot while still carrying the firearm.
As the suspected gunm@n moved away, the person filming dropped the camera and appeared to duck for cover. A panicked voice could be heard saying, “Get down… I don’t have service.”
“We believe the threat to the community is over,” Police Chief Hicks said, adding that the scene was chaotic and that authorities were still notifying the victims’ next of kin.
Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer also said officials expect the number of injured victims to rise.
Reacting to the tragedy, Lynsi Snyder, owner and president of In-N-Out Burger, revealed that one of the victims was an employee of the restaurant.
“My heart is broken, my chest is heavy, my eyes burn from the tears I’ve shed,” Snyder wrote on Instagram.
“We lost one of our beautiful associates tonight. She was taking care of our most important asset – our customers, and her life was taken by a disgusting human who doesn’t value the lives of others or his own.”
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident as efforts continue to determine what led to the d3adly att@ck.
