“There is absolutely no reason to pay someone ₦100k or ₦150k and expect them to work six days a week in this economy” — Man says

A man has ignited internet debate after giving his ideas on employee welfare and pay in Nigeria.

According to him, many business owners consider staff as expenses instead of investments, paying them between ₦100,000 and ₦150,000 and expecting full-time devotion, loyalty, and productivity despite present economic realities.

He contended that if a company cannot afford a full-time employee, owners should seek options such as part-time arrangements, hybrid employment, allowances, or decreased workloads rather than demanding full commitment at what he referred to as survival wages.

The man also mentioned that employees can often notice when a business is expanding through new equipment, renovations, and increasing patronage while their pay remains same.

He went on to say that workers play an important role in building a company’s reputation and advised companies to examine staff pay as their revenue improves, emphasising that a successful business is established not just by good employees but also by good employers.
