During an interview with TrustTV News on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the national chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has narrated his nephew’s experience in captivity after being abducted by the armed bandits.

Recently, several Nigerians have taken to the streets requesting the safe release of pupils and teachers abducted by insurgents in the Oriire local government area of Oyo State.

However, during the interview, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, recalled how his nephew was abducted by the insurgents and taken into captivity.

Baba-Ahmed also revealed that the people he sent to deliver ransom to the bandits lost their way and were directed by soldiers of the Nigerian military.

In his words, “The people we sent to deliver the money, and they said to the military guys, ‘We are looking for this direction; we were told to come here,’ and they said, ‘This is the wrong way.'”
