T€rrorism: Stop crying, Nigeria needs to partner with US – Adeyanju to Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Islamic scholar, was criticised by activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju on Sunday for his comments against US airstrikes against ISIS militants in Sokoto State.

Gumi’s allegations, according to Adeyanju, were needless and inappropriate.

According to reports, former US President Donald Trump approved airstrikes on Christmas Day with the goal of killing ISIS members in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

However, there are no known t€rrorist casualties, suggesting that the operation had little effect.

Sheikh Gumi has openly denounced the US action and questioned the efficacy of the airstrikes.

Online discussions have been triggered by his remarks, and many people have responded to the controversial scholar’s position.

Taking to X, Adeyanju challenged Gumi’s position, he wrote:

“If the Donald Trump air strike against Nigerian ISIS didn’t kill any terrorist, why is Gumi crying? Should he not be happy that all his colleagues are still alive?”

Adeyanju underlined the necessity of more robust collaborations in the battle against t€rrorism.

He added: “Why the tears? We need more collaborative efforts between the US and Nigeria against these barbaric terrorists terrorizing our nation.”

Social media users are divided on whether foreign intervention is a crucial weapon in Nigeria’s ongoing war against terrorism as a result of Adeyanju’s statement.
