Aminu Tambuwal has reportedly withdrawn from the 2027 Sokoto South Senatorial race following consultations and disagreements surrounding candidate selection ahead of the general elections.

According to Lamir Aminu, the former governor stepped down in order to maintain peace and unity within the party.

He stated that Tambuwal’s decision was aimed at promoting harmony and strengthening internal democracy within the African Democratic Congress.

Aminu further explained that the party leadership in Sokoto is focused on creating opportunities for younger politicians to contest elective positions, adding that Tambuwal’s action reflects the party’s commitment to grooming young and vibrant leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
