An operation carried out by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Ikang reportedly turned chaotic after a mob confrontation led to gunshots and panic in the area.
According to reports, NDLEA operatives arrested two suspected drug dealers during the raid on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. However, the situation allegedly escalated during the operation, causing residents to flee as gunshots were heard.
An eyewitness told reporters that confusion broke out during the confrontation and, after the situation settled, a young boy was discovered lying on the ground after reportedly being struck by a stray bullet. The victim was later rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The incident has sparked concern among residents over public safety during enforcement operations, while authorities are expected to continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
