A Bolt driver has opened up about being abused at home by his spouse, describing how fear and financial hardship have forced him to remain in the union.

The man honestly admitted that he often waits until midnight outside his home to make sure his wife has gone to bed before returning because he fears violent reactions if he makes less than expected.

He explained:

“Sometimes I close work early. I’m supposed to go home around 7:00 or 7:30, but I’ll wait till 9:00. When I go home, I have to make my bed and go to sleep because if I return with less than 20,000 or 30,000 Naira, she will beat me. She even beats me in front of our children.”

The driver added that his wife humiliates him publicly, calling him “stupid” and “useless,” and has no shame in letting neighbours witness the abuse.
