A Nigerian lady has generated outrage online after condemning what she sees as Nigerians’ growing fixation with money.
In a viral video, she claimed that many affluent Nigerian men were not inherently handsome since they had personality beyond their financial status.
She claimed that some people had made money their primary identity while ignoring key traits like good communication, listening, and a pleasant attitude.
“Many rich men in Nigeria are not attractive, except you’re a lazy girl, because they don’t have a personality outside money.”
The lady also criticised normal Nigerians, claiming that the chase of wealth frequently dominated their personalities and interactions.
“And not just rich men, even normal average people from Nigeria, we don’t have a personality outside trying to get money.”
She also chastised Nigerians for supposedly using poverty as an insult in regular conversations and during debates on social media.
She claims that instead of addressing the real problem at hand, individuals frequently turn to making fun of someone else’s financial situation.
“The manner at which we broke shame people in Nigeria, it’s a normal, it’s a random thing.”
The woman went on to say that having money shouldn’t be used to cover up terrible behaviour or character.
Even after reaching financial success, she encouraged people to cultivate their personalities and social abilities.
She believes that after achieving financial success, people should focus on improving themselves because personality is still crucial in interpersonal connections.
“See all this, after you get money finished, work on your person.”
The lady also encouraged people to become better conversationalists and listeners instead of focusing solely on financial success.
“Personality still matters a lot. na people dey deal with you. No be that paper where you gather, na people, they deal with.”
She said simple acts such as greeting people, complimenting others and engaging in meaningful conversations should not be replaced with displays of wealth.
You know fit talk, some of you cannot greet people.”
She concluded by urging Nigerians to change their attitude, stressing that money should not be considered a substitute for good character.
