The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has dismissed claims that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, participated in a protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement issued on reported by THE CABLE on Tuesday June 2 2026, the church clarified that the viral photograph showing Adeboye during a public march was taken during a nationwide peace walk organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
RCCG explained that the peace walk was organised to draw attention to the killing of Christians and other Nigerians and to call for improved security across the country.
The church stated that Adeboye participated in the exercise in Ebute Metta, Lagos, as part of the nationwide campaign. It stressed that the event was not a protest against Jonathan and had no connection to his administration.
RCCG added that the photograph has been repeatedly shared online with false claims and urged the public to verify information before sharing it.
According to their statement, “The walk in Ebute Metta, where Pastor Adeboye participated, was part of that nationwide exercise. It was neither organised against President Goodluck Jonathan nor connected in any way to his administration.”
