The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has addressed assertions that its General Overseer, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has remained silent on national concerns and has cancelled a scheduled demonstration in response to widely circulated allegations.
RCCG stated its leader has been distorted through what it called “false narratives and agenda-driven commentary” in a statement made public on the church’s PR page on Tuesday, June 2.
Additionally, the church stated that Pastor Adeboye has remained impartial and refuted allegations that he campaigned for or supported any political regime.
Reports that Pastor Adeboye cancelled any planned demonstration due to security concerns were denied by RCCG.
The church claims that what was conveyed was an order from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), not a cancellation of the protest, and that the situation was misunderstood.

“Pastor Adeboye only communicated the instruction of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) to members of the RCCG on the updated plan to have the grand finale of the three-day prayer programme in a centralised venue and hold a rally around the venue. This was communicated by PFN to all churches under PFN in Nigeria.”
The church further stated that the change was not a cleric’s personal choice and extended to all PFN-affiliated parishes.
Additionally, RCCG refuted allegations that Pastor Adeboye had supported or allied with the current administration.
It said that the cleric encourages members to make their own electoral decisions and has continuously upheld political neutrality.
“Pastor Adeboye has always encouraged members of the church to get their PVCs and vote for anyone of their choice; he has always maintained a neutral stance on political parties as members of the church are members of various political parties.”
The church rejected claims that Pastor Adeboye has remained silent on national challenges such as insecurity and economic hardship.
“Pastor E.A. Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and not the Commander of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He can only ask his members to join in prayers and convey instructions given by CAN/PFN with no direct influence over the Army.”
The church cautioned against misrepresenting words attributed to its head and advised people to confirm facts before sharing.
