Several suspects captured in a viral video brandishing machetes in the Lekki area of Lagos State have been arrested, authorities have confirmed.
The incident gained attention after a resident shared footage showing the group openly carrying weapons, leaving motorists in the area frightened.
In a statement posted on x, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, confirmed that arrests had been made in connection with the incident.
However, authorities are expected to continue investigations as efforts intensify to curb cr!minal activity in the area.
”Following the videos circulating online with reports of unrest in Lekki today, the Lagos State Commisioner of Police carried out a rapid investigation and launched a sting operation between the axis, Chisco and Osakpa bus stop. This led to successful identification and arrest of a number of hoodlums.
The commissioner of Police has assured law abiding citizens that the security of their lives and properties is guaranteed under his watch.”
