“Please don’t propose to me in a car…” — Lady says suitor must spend ₦500k

A woman has sparked extensive conversation on social media after publishing the type of marriage proposal she expects from a potential spouse, stressing that a simple or private proposal is unacceptable.

In a post that has gained substantial attention online, the lady stated numerous conditions she believes should be completed before she agrees to a proposal, believing that the effort demonstrates a man’s preparedness for marriage.

According to her, proposals done in a car, at a restaurant, or with just the couple present do not satisfy her expectations since she desires a public celebration with family, friends, and a professionally planned setup.

The woman said, “Please don’t propose to me in a car, on a plate or in a restaurant,I don’t want privacy call people do a setup it cost 500k I know if you can’t afford a proposal setup you can’t take care of me & we are not ready to get married, you can hire an artiste too so I’ll cry.”

Her comments indicate that she sees an expensive proposal as a sign of financial preparation and commitment prior to marriage.

The post has subsequently spread throughout social media sites, attracting attention from those who have opposing views on relationship standards.

The lady’s words elicited mixed reactions, with some acknowledging that people have the right to their personal tastes when it comes to proposals.

Others, however, stated that the value of a marriage proposal should not be determined by its expense or public display, citing genuine commitment and sincerity as more important than lavish ceremonies.

The debate continues to feed discussions about modern relationship standards and financial objectives before marriage.
