Phyna has knocked out Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in the fourth round of their highly anticipated celebrity boxing bout at Chaos in the Ring in Lagos.
The former Big Brother Naija winner secured the stoppage in the early hours of Friday, October 2, after the four-round contest at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Resort, Victoria Island.
The fight, which took place on Nigeria’s Independence Day, had been promoted as one of the biggest celebrity clashes on the card, with the two entertainers taking their long-running public dispute from social media into the boxing ring.
Phyna and Nkechi Blessing had already generated significant attention before fight night, with their heated exchanges continuing during the build-up and at their official press conference.
Their rivalry became even more intense during the September 29 press conference when the pair exchanged blows, forcing people around them to intervene.
But when the two eventually stepped into the ring, Phyna emerged as the dominant fighter.
The reality star knocked Nkechi Blessing to the canvas in the fourth round to secure the knockout victory and become the winner of what organisers described as Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
Following her victory, Phyna revealed that her strategy was to take things easy during the opening rounds before stepping up her attack in the fourth.
She then wasted little time looking for another opponent, challenging actress Etinosa Idemudia, who had watched the fight from ringside.
Etinosa accepted the challenge, immediately setting up another potential celebrity boxing showdown.
Phyna was also presented with a car and a ceremonial ₦50 million cheque following her victory.
The fight marked a dramatic conclusion to a rivalry that had moved from online exchanges to television and eventually into the boxing ring.
For Nkechi Blessing, the night ended in defeat. For Phyna, it became another major chapter in her growing entertainment profile and potentially the beginning of a new journey in celebrity boxing.
