Photographer David Martins’ estranged wife addresses alleged affair with gospel singer Neon Adejo
Alicia Daniella, estranged wife of photographer David Martins, has addressed allegations that she had an affair with gospel singer Neon Adejo, threatening legal action against those who continue to publish what she described as false and defamatory claims.
The statement was issued by Daniella’s lawyers and shared on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
The controversy began after Daniella publicly accused Martins of domestic violence and announced the end of their marriage.
Martins denied the allegations and later shared alleged private conversations between Daniella and Adejo, which he said raised questions about the nature of their relationship.
Adejo subsequently denied having an affair with Daniella and explained how he became involved in the controversy.
In the statement issued on Daniella’s behalf, her lawyers said she “categorically and unequivocally denies any allegation of an affair or inappropriate relationship with any third party.”
“At no time did she engage in any conduct of such nature, nor has she acted in a manner inconsistent with the dignity, propriety, and respect she maintains in her personal conduct, including respect for the sanctity of marriage,” the statement read.
Her lawyers also criticised the publication of alleged private conversations involving their client.
“We note the recent circulation and publication of alleged private communications involving our client, alongside selective and distorted interpretations intended to create a misleading narrative,” they said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the extraction and dissemination of private conversations, particularly where decontextualised and presented without evidential foundation, does not constitute proof of wrongdoing.”
The lawyers said Daniella had also received direct messages from members of the public containing what they described as false and defamatory statements about her personal life.
“These allegations are entirely false and form part of an ongoing attempt to harass and malign her,” they said.
They warned that further publication or circulation of defamatory claims would attract legal action.
“Accordingly, all members of the public are hereby placed on strict notice that any further publication, repetition, or transmission of defamatory content concerning our client will attract appropriate legal action without further warning.”
The statement also said the focus of the matter should remain on Daniella’s allegations of domestic violence and abuse.
“The focal and core issue in this matter remains the serious allegations of domestic violence and abuse, in respect of which our client has already commenced appropriate legal action against her partner,” the lawyers said.
“The matter is currently before the relevant law enforcement and legal authorities for due process.”
The lawyers said Daniella had been advised not to make further public comments because the matter was now before the relevant authorities.
“Our client is not engaged in any media contest and will not be drawn into a parallel narrative war. She has made her position clear and will allow the law to take its full course without interference, distortion, or distraction.”
They also demanded an end to the publication and circulation of Daniella’s personal information, including information about her minor child.
“We hereby place all concerned parties on notice to immediately cease and desist from further publication, circulation, or amplification of our client’s personal information, including that of her minor child, without lawful authority and prior consent.”
The lawyers added, “Any continued breach will be met with decisive legal action.”
Adejo had earlier denied the affair allegations and explained that he became involved after Daniella approached him over difficulties in her marriage.
Martins, however, disputed the nature of the relationship between his estranged wife and the singer.
Daniella’s lawyers maintained that the matter would be resolved through the legal process rather than public exchanges.
