“People stopped inviting me to children’s birthday parties because I didn’t have a child” — Mo Bimpe reveals

Mo Bimpe, a Nollywood actress, has described how she was barred from various social events because she wasn’t yet a mother.

In an emotional Instagram post, the actress talked about the event and addressed women who might be having trouble getting pregnant.

Bimpe claims that there came a time when invitations to birthday parties, naming ceremonies, baby showers, and other events abruptly ceased arriving.

She claimed that after learning that some people had purposefully ostracised her because she was childless, the situation got worse.

The actress remembered asking herself if she had done anything wrong to warrant this kind of treatment.

She did, however, state that she never wanted compassion. All she wanted was to keep her connections intact and enjoy the joy of those around her.

Bimpe clarified that she wants to share unique moments with friends and acquaintances since she has always adored children.

She wrote: “A few months ago, I would never have imagined writing this. Last night, as I returned home from celebrating baby Rakeem, I got emotional. Not because of the party itself, but because it reminded me of a difficult season.

“There was a time when I wasn’t invited to baby showers, naming ceremonies, children’s birthdays, or anything related to kids. Sometimes, these were people I knew personally.

“People I laughed with, worked with, and genuinely cared about. I remember wondering what I had done wrong. Later, I found out that some people intentionally left me out because I didn’t have children. At the time, it hurt deeply.

“Not because I wanted pity, but because I loved children. I wanted to celebrate with people. I wanted to share in their joy. What many people don’t realise is that struggling to conceive is already hard enough. The waiting is hard. The questions are hard. The insults are hard. The silent prayers are hard.

“Please don’t make it harder by excluding people. A woman without a child is not less deserving of love, friendship, inclusion, or celebration. Invite her. Love her. Celebrate with her. You never truly know what someone is carrying behind their smile.”

Bimpe’s request for people to show greater consideration for women who are childless was based on her personal experience.

She pointed out that people can be coping with personal issues that are not evident in their outward appearance or social interactions.

Therefore, rather than presuming that women without children would feel uncomfortable around children, the actress urged friends and relatives to continue involving them in celebrations.

She highlighted that the absence of a child should never be used as a cause to deny anyone companionship, love or a sense of belonging.
