Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G, has opened up about her deep friendship with fellow acting icon Pete Edochie and the pain she has experienced following the loss of several colleagues in the Nigerian film industry.

The actress became emotional during a recent podcast conversation with content creator Femi Babs, where she spoke candidly about the people who have played significant roles in her life and career.

Ozokwor revealed that she sometimes finds herself thinking about what life would be like if Pete Edochie, whom she shares a close relationship with, were to die before her.

“I keep imagining what it would feel like if Pete Edochie passed away before me,” she said.

The actress explained that the thought is particularly painful because of the strong bond they have built over the years. Her comments highlighted the emotional attachment she has to Edochie and her fear of losing yet another close colleague.

Reflecting on the numerous deaths that have affected Nollywood over the years, Ozokwor recalled the passing of veteran comedian and actor Sam Loco.

She disclosed that Sam Loco’s death left her heartbroken, particularly because of the memorable experiences they shared while working together.

“When Sam Loco passed, I cried like a baby because he was doing comedy with me,” she recalled.

Ozokwor also remembered the late John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu, whose death similarly left a deep emotional impact on her.

“When Mr Ibu passed, it was the same,” she added.

The veteran actress also expressed concern over the health struggles experienced by legendary actor Olu Jacobs, whose public appearances have become rare in recent years.

Speaking about the losses and challenges faced by members of her generation, Ozokwor’s reflections capture the emotional reality of watching several familiar faces from Nollywood’s golden era disappear over time.

For an actress who has spent decades working alongside some of the industry’s biggest names, her words reveal not only grief but also an appreciation for the relationships and memories created throughout her remarkable career.
