Over 50 Catholic Priests Stage Peaceful Demonstration in Taraba, Cite 80+ D£@ths and Mass Displacement

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, approximately 50 clergy from the Catholic Dioceses of Wukari and Jalingo marched through Jalingo, calling for urgent government action.

The protest was led by Fr. James Yaro, Vicar Pastoral of Wukari Diocese, who stated that over 80 people had been killed in Takum, Donga, and Ussa LGAs within the past 90 days.

He also cited the destruction of more than 200 communities and churches since September 2025 and said over 90,000 Catholics have been displaced.

Clergy carried placards reading “STOP THE KILLINGS,” “ALL LIVES ARE SACRED,” and “Government, Protect Your Citizens,” demanding security, justice, and accountability.

Priests in clerical attire were seen marching and praying, urging authorities to address what they described as an existential threat to affected communities.

There were no reports of violence during the protest.
