Victor Osimhen’s market value has reportedly risen to €150 million, according to Galatasaray vice president Abdullah Kavukcu, ahead of the team’s matchup with Juventus in Turin for the UEFA Champions League knockout round.
In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Kavukcu discussed the striker’s effect since signing a permanent contract with the Turkish champions last summer.
In order to get Osimhen to sign with Napoli, Galatasaray activated his €75 million release clause; at the time, this action was criticised because of the size of the expenditure.
“When we bought him, many people talked about it as a crazy investment. I think Victor proved everyone wrong, considering his value has doubled,” Kavukcu said.
He added: “We know he’s one of the best centre-forwards in the world, and we want to achieve great things together.”
Within a year of acquisition, Osimhen’s anticipated €150 million price tag would constitute a substantial capital gain for the Istanbul-based club.
The Nigerian international has recently been connected to a number of top European teams, including Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Atletico Madrid.
Osimhen has maintained his standing as one of Europe’s top center-forwards with 15 goals and five assists in 23 games this season.
In eight prior encounters with the Serie A team, he has a good record versus Juventus, with six victories and two losses.
Discussions on the forward’s long-term future and valuation may be further influenced by his performance as Galatasaray gets ready for a pivotal European match.
