Nigerian groom wears traditional Jukun Wapan outfit for white wedding in Taraba

A Nigerian groom has attracted attention after choosing to honour his cultural heritage by wearing traditional attire for his white wedding in Taraba State.

Rather than the conventional suit or native attire commonly associated with wedding ceremonies, the groom appeared in a wrapper paired with a white singlet.

A Facebook user, Agbu Jibaniya, shared a photo of the groom on Saturday, October 3, 2026, highlighting the cultural significance of his outfit.

According to Jibaniya, the wrapper and white singlet form part of the traditional attire of the Jukun Wapan people of Wukari, Taraba State.

While the groom embraced his cultural identity through his choice of outfit, his bride wore a conventional white wedding gown for the ceremony.

The groom’s best man also joined him in celebrating their heritage, wearing the same traditional outfit as the groom.

The couple’s wedding appearance has drawn attention to the way traditional Nigerian clothing can be incorporated into modern white wedding ceremonies while preserving cultural identity.
