A man who posted on X (previously Twitter) and advised men to limit their partners’ independence has sparked outrage online.
Men should make their female spouses reliant on their approval in many aspects of life, the man wrote in the essay.
He gave a number of examples, such as a woman’s attire, her online posts, her work-related overtime, her outings and returns, and even the individuals she chooses to surround herself with.
“This is not controlling, it is protecting her,” he wrote. “A woman with 100% freedom will self-destruct and may destroy you too.
“Learn from people who have been destroyed by this or learn from your own destruction.”
Users engaged in contentious discussions when the tweet swiftly went viral.
While some criticised his viewpoint as being misogynistic and dominating, others supported it, arguing that it offers advice for preserving a solid relationship.
Relationship specialists have cautioned that limiting autonomy and promoting dependency can be detrimental to both partners and lead to animosity.
They emphasised that open communication, trust, and respect for one another—rather than dominance—are the foundations of healthy relationships.
