Senator Ned Nwoko has reacted publicly to the drug test result recently shared by Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, following ongoing discussions about her personal life.
In a long statement released on his official Facebook page through his communication team, Ned Nwoko questioned the meaning and timing of the drug test result that Regina shared online. According to the statement, a single negative drug test does not automatically mean long-term sobriety or erase past concerns.
The statement explained that temporary abstinence from drugs should not be confused with full recovery. It stressed that true sobriety requires sustained effort, honesty, accountability, and professional support over time, not just a social media post or public display of a test result.
Ned Nwoko’s team also claimed that earlier assessments indicating drug and alcohol use had already been carried out by two independent and reputable centres in Nigeria and South Africa. The statement said those reports were professionally documented and could be presented and defended in court if necessary.
Reacting directly to the drug test Regina showed online, the statement described it as misleading to present a later negative result as proof that no prior substance use ever occurred. It added that such a test only reflects abstinence over a short period and does not cancel earlier medical findings or the reasons intervention was initially required.
Ned Nwoko further stated that long before the issue became public, efforts were made to provide Regina with help, including access to private rehabilitation and structured therapy. The statement noted that these efforts were handled quietly to protect her privacy and to help her maintain a stable relationship with her children.
The communication team also referenced a court judgement from last year, stating that while custody issues were resolved in Ned Nwoko’s favour, the court reportedly ordered supervised therapy for Regina, with evidence required. They stressed that the matter was never meant to be turned into public drama.
The statement concluded by saying that true accountability means accepting reality and committing to long-term professional support, not relying on a single test result taken at one’s convenience. It added that any drug test, anywhere in the world, should be ready for legal scrutiny, and that a credible laboratory may be appointed by the court to independently verify all claims.
