The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially zoned its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a single four-year term ahead of the next general election.
The decision was reached during the party’s National Convention after a motion was moved by Afam Victor Ogene, who represents Ogbaru Constituency of Anambra State in the 10th National Assembly. Delegates at the convention reportedly adopted the motion unanimously.
According to the resolution, the party also agreed that after the completion of the single four-year tenure, the presidential ticket would automatically be zoned to Northern Nigeria.
The development is seen as a major boost for former Peter Obi and other southern aspirants, as it clears the path for them to obtain and process the party’s presidential nomination forms.
