Nigerian gospel artiste Asu Ekiye has clarified the circumstances surrounding the end of his 28-year marriage, denying reports that he was the one who initiated the divorce proceedings.

The clarification comes two days after the veteran singer announced on social media that his marriage had ended, prompting reactions from fans and members of the gospel community.

In a follow-up statement shared on his official social media page, Ekiye said his estranged wife was the one who decided to end the marriage and subsequently initiated the legal process.

According to the singer, his wife packed her belongings and left the marriage unexpectedly, claiming there had been no prior quarrel or major misunderstanding between them.
