“My sister doesn’t owe rent, I don’t know why she’s doing this” — 81-year-old landlady assault tenant

A furious argument between a female renter and her 81-year-old landlady has gained attention online when a video of the incident surfaced, which shows the older woman allegedly hitting the younger tenant during a quarrel at a residential property.

The tenant was reportedly in the midst of moving out when the confrontation occurred.

Witnesses stated the elderly landlady prevented the tenant from leaving, despite reports that the woman owed no rent.

Read what the tenant’s sister said below;

My sister doesn’t owe any rent, so I don’t know why she’s doing this. She has been violent to her for the past two years, but my sister cannot do anything to her because she is 81 years old.”

According to witnesses, the elderly woman repeatedly assaulted and bit the tenant during the conflict, while the younger woman tried to remain calm and prevent reprisal.

The sister added, “She kept on biting her and dragging her clothes. She prays and calls ‘Jesus, Jesus’, but she’s not behaving normally.”

In recent years, there have been reports of landlord-tenant arguments turning into violent confrontations in various parts of Nigeria, raising concerns about tenancy rights, mental health, and the safety of inhabitants in shared compounds.
