A woman has sparked emotional reactions online after revealing that she has been left to care for her roommate’s three-month-old baby alone after the child’s mother allegedly disappeared without warning.
According to the woman, her roommate became pregnant last year, but the man responsible denied the pregnancy and cut off contact. Afraid of her family’s reaction, the expectant mother also chose not to inform them about the pregnancy.
She explained that throughout the pregnancy, she became her roommate’s main source of support, paying household bills, buying food and covering other responsibilities after her friend stopped working.
The woman said, “I honestly don’t know what to do anymore, and I’m completely overwhelmed.”
She disclosed that her roommate gave birth to a baby girl nine months later, and she continued helping to care for both mother and child. However, she claimed everything changed when her roommate suddenly disappeared, leaving the infant behind.
Later, she added, “Then, a few weeks ago, she disappeared without warning and left her three-month-old baby with me.”
The woman further stated, “I’ve had to lie to my employer that I was seriously ill just so I could stay home and take care of a baby I didn’t give birth to.”
Her story has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many users sympathising with her while urging her to notify the baby’s relatives or the appropriate authorities to ensure the child’s welfare.
Others praised her compassion but stressed that she should not shoulder the responsibility alone, especially as the situation has reportedly begun affecting her job, finances and emotional wellbeing.
