A man has sparked widespread reactions on social media after sharing the story of a married woman who allegedly claimed her husband had not been intimate with her for more than three years because of spiritual instructions from an Alfa.

According to the man, the woman reached out to him for help over the challenges in her marriage. Although he was initially reluctant to get involved, he devised a way to get the husband to respond so he could hear his side of the story directly.

He said the wife remained calm and respectful throughout the conversation, while the husband repeatedly insisted that he was facing personal challenges and would eventually change.

Sharing part of the conversation, the man quoted the husband as saying:

“He was told by his Alfa that the prayer he is doing requires him to stay away from his wife.”

The husband also reportedly explained that he had been struggling financially and emotionally.

Reacting to the explanation, the man questioned how such an instruction could continue for several years, writing:

“Like he has been praying for 1, 2, 3, 4 years?”

Expressing his disbelief, he added:

“I am forced to ask, who is raising these kinds of men in the society?”

Using the incident as a warning, he advised women to carefully investigate the background of anyone they intend to marry, especially if they suspect the person frequently consults individuals claiming to possess spiritual powers.

He wrote:

“Immediately you suspect that your fiancé or husband-to-be patronizes those Alfas (the babalawos in disguise) or sorcerers, please run for your life, even if the wedding date has been picked.”

The post has since generated widespread debate online, with many Nigerians discussing the influence of religious beliefs on marriage, marital responsibilities and the importance of addressing relationship issues before tying the knot.
