Simi, a Nigerian singer and Afrobeats sensation, has come out vehemently against sexual assault, encouraging males to address unacceptable behaviour among their peers.
The artist emphasised the terrible regularity of assault that women endure, underlining that silence or complicity simply exacerbates the problem.
In a passionate post on X (previously Twitter), Simi detailed how many males construct “safe spaces” for pals who commit violent acts, prioritising loyalty over accountability.
She denounced this mentality and emphasised the importance of protecting survivors and dealing with wrongdoing.
Simi wrote that men who are “triggered” by accusations should consider why they are defensive if they are innocent, so directly challenging males to consider their actions.
Noting that women are becoming more and more concerned about their safety both inside and outside of their homes, she urged men to aggressively confront friends who harass or abuse women.
She also noted in her piece that although false charges sometimes occur, avoiding abuse and helping victims are the true concerns. “Stop enabling behaviour that terrorises women,” she wrote.

Social media users have responded to the singer’s statement with praise for her audacity and calls for a change in social norms.
Proponents claim that taking this public stand motivates males to join forces in the fight against sexual abuse and helps dispel long-standing gender preconceptions.
In order to guarantee that women can live in safety and without fear, Simi emphasised the necessity of a cultural shift and insisted that men take themselves and others accountable.
