A Nigerian man has publicly forgiven the unidentified driver who allegedly knocked down his wife in a hit-and-run incident along Ogudu Expressway in Lagos.
The man, who uses the X handle @iamrichygold, shared his emotional reaction after receiving news that his wife had been involved in the incident on Wednesday evening.
He described the phone call informing him about what happened as deeply distressing, saying the news brought him to tears. Despite the circumstances, however, he chose to forgive the driver allegedly responsible for the incident.
“If you were the one that did a HIT AND RUN at Ogudu express, Lagos yesterday evening, just know that it was my wife you hit.
“I FORGIVE YOU, I really do,” he wrote.
‘Getting the Call Was Heartbreaking’
The man said learning about the incident was extremely painful, but reiterated that he had decided not to hold on to anger against the person involved.
“Getting the call and the news was heartbreaking and caused tears but I FORGIVE YOU.
“I FORGIVE YOU,” he added.
He did not disclose the extent of his wife’s injuries or provide specific information about the vehicle or driver involved in the alleged hit-and-run.
Man Appreciates Good Samaritan
While recounting the incident, the man also expressed gratitude to an unidentified passerby who reportedly stopped to assist his wife after she was knocked down.
According to him, the good Samaritan helped keep his wife conscious and provided first aid while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
“I’m grateful to and for the Man that kept her conscious rendering first aid till the Ambulance got there,” he said.
He further revealed that the stranger remained at the scene for several hours, continuing to assist his wife until midnight.
“He even stayed and helped till midnight (few minutes ago).
“I’m so grateful…” he added.
The man’s account has drawn attention to both the dangers associated with hit-and-run incidents and the importance of bystanders providing immediate assistance to accident victims while professional medical help is being sought.
